Leather: Standard leather pistons for most applications. Toughest; easily handles harsh abrasives such as grout. Best all around chemical resistance. Leathers must be soaked in light weight oil between cleanings to retain their sealing properties. See Caulk Gun Care Here.
Nitrile: Use only when chemicals and harsh cleaning agents are not a factor. Recommended for bulk applications with water based materials. Stiff (H): Stiff Hytrel® plastic is durable and has good chemical resistance. Sharp edge scrapes inside walls of barrel preventing sausage bag wrap. Teflon: Most chemically-resistant synthetic piston available.
