    Exterior Post Application

Once you know your loads, be sure to check your codes. With the increases in Log Home construction, existing building codes are being enforced and new regulations are being created.

The Top Locking Plate may be required for exterior support posts in many areas where Log Homes are being built. This tough, welded assembly simply captures the Spider Nut & Bronze Bearing to keep exterior support posts secure in high wind situations.

The Locking Plate is currently being rated for uplift strength. Always check local building codes and consult a structural engineer for your particular project for these types of applications.

As your home settles, adjustments are still easy with the Spider Nut design using a heavy punch and sledge.

Top Locking Plate measures 5"x 5" and can be used on both the Nortek 6680 and 4430 Levelers.

Post Screw Jacks aid in the compensation of settling log walls. It has a threaded rod mounted to a steel plate with a nut acting as the height adjuster, with another steel plate on top of the nut. The bottom plate is screwed to the floor and the top plate is screwed to the bottom of the vertical log post. The threaded rod will pass through a hole in the center of the upper plate as shown and into a predrilled recess in the log. Note: It takes years for the logs to completely settle, which means that it will take some time for the jack to be lowered to a point where it will not be seen by someone in the room.
