Cant Hooks “Cant” a sudden movement that tilts or overturns a thing. Used for rolling or turning heavy logs. The blunt end of the Cant Hook does less damage to the logs then the Peavey.Dixie & Nalco brands. Nalco brand shown. Dixie cant hooks have hickory handles, 2" or 2-1/4" diameter unless stated. Nalco handles are maple, 2" or 2-1/4" diameter.
Peaveys were invented by Joseph Peavey approximately 1865-70. Used like the Cant Hook to turn logs but with a pointed end instead of a blunt end. The pointed end makes it easier to work logs from a pile or push logs into position. Dixie (hickory handles) and Nalco (maple handles).Used for turning logs. The end point is used to aid in the pushing or prying logs into position. Dixie brand shown.
