Some Notes on Joint Design: Caulking joint width should be between 1/4" and 2" and 4 times the anticipated movement. For joints 1" or more, the depth should be 3/8" to 1/2". The depth of joints less than 1" wide should be half the width but no less than 1/4". (Caulking joint depth should be 1/4" to 1/2".)
