Helle Fossekallen - Traditional Field Knife. Fossekallen was designed by Gunnar Lothe in 1998 and is named after Norway’s ”national” bird. Since 1932, Helle knives have been crafted in the village of Holmedal. The knife is well shaped for all around hunting and outdoor use and suitable for carving and skinning. The blade is made of triple laminated stainless steel. The steel in Helle knives is unique - the biggest difference lies in the triple laminated stainless steel blade. The core is made of high alloy steel which gives it a lasting, razor-sharp edge. This harder layer cannot however exclude the threat of rust or breakage. To exploit the superb qualities of the high alloy steel Helle adds two layers of tough stainless steel (18/8) to protect the blade against breakage and corrosion, while the high carbon core still provides a superb cutting edge. The Fossekallen knife comes with a snap type custom double-stitched, full grain leather sheath and a handmade handle of solid Curly Birch. Each Helle knife is hand crafted and there will be some variaiton in handle and blade lengths. Made in Norway.
